Get a current public key and connection address. Check that your node can reach the advertised clearnet or Tor address.
Connect as a peer
Use your Lightning node’s peer connection interface. With LND, use
lncli connect <pubkey>@<host>:<port>.Discuss a channel
Before opening a channel, confirm availability, capacity requirements, and current fees with the operator.

Ask a connection questionDoes connecting to a peer open a channel?
No. A peer connection establishes communication between nodes. A payment channel is a separate operation, with capacity and on-chain transaction fees to consider.
Can I connect over Tor?
Use a published onion address if the node offers one, and ensure your Lightning node is configured for Tor. Ask us which addresses are currently available.
Where can I find current fees?
Check the node’s latest advertised channel policies and confirm any channel requirements with the operator. Directory information is a dated reference, rather than a live quote.
